Archie’s Riverdale Series Comes To CW Television . . .

transparent_spaceThe CW is very quickly becoming television’s home for all things comic book. In addition to all the other properties on there DC Comics slate as of right now, the network has just announced they’ll be picking up Riverdale, a high school drama based on the classic characters from Archie Comics . . .

After being totally rejected by Fox, the Riverdale pilot quickly became a favorite over at the CW, where the Greg Berlanti-produced show has now been given a full season order. Though featuring famous teenagers Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead, Riverdale isn’t intended to be an exact adaptation of the long-running Archie Comics.

The new television series is pulling more inspiration from the recent All-New Archie Comics, written by Mark Waid with current artwork from Veronica Fish, the artist also responsible for Riverdale‘s promo artwork ( seen above ) that puts a slightly different spin on our beloved characters of old.

The Riverdale pilot, and presumably the season to follow, stars newcomer KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhard as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veroinca Lodge, and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones. Also appearing is Ashleigh Murray as Josie (of Josie and the Pussycats), Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, and Luke Perry as Fred Andrews.

Given the controversial new direction of the recent comics and fans mixed response too them, will this new take fly at the CW or ultimately crash and burn? Only time will tell, but we’ll certainly keep you posted as more comes in . .

Kermit Gets A New Girlfriend On New Muppet Show!

Muppets-transparent_space

Last month, it was widely reported that Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy had called it quits. They made the break public, releasing a statement to the press just as their new show “The Muppets” is set to debut this fall. The new series, which is described as a fresh take on The Office, will show the lives of these various Muppet animals and creatures. And as expected, we’ll be getting a bird’s-eye view into the dating woes and romantic relationships of everyone’s favorite Pig and Frog . .

ABC has leaked early photos of Kermy’s new fling. Her name is Denise. And to be honest, she’s a real pig. Kermit and Miss Piggy have been together for over four decades. Though their split was amicable, it didn’t take long for the green man to start hitting the field. Kermy is rumored to be dating an ABC employee he met on the set of his new series. She is apparently the head of marketing, making her a co-worker of sorts. Check out the latest press release from Kermit to his fans.

While Kermit getting a new girlfriend might not have been such a big deal, it certainly has many fans a little bothered here and there. With his ex of forty years always just a few yards away from him, it’s bound to blow-up in his face at some future point in the series. With everything being documented, you can guarantee that fans will get to see all of the most awkward moments, warts and all . .

The Muppet Show Returns . . . . Again!

Muppets-transparent_space

It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. And it’s time for another round of The Muppet Show. The Muppets will officially return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show that, for the first time ever, will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work as well . . .

ABC describes the newer take as a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages. The recent pilot presentation, as it’s been told through the media, received a standing ovation when it screened for ABC executives a couple weeks ago. Bill Prady and Bob Kushell are co-writers and executive producers alongside Randall Einhorn and Bill Barretta.

Now doubt this is Disney’s reaction to the big success of the most recent Muppet movies ( 2011’s “The Muppets” & 2014 “Muppets: Most Wanted” ) at the box office. And since the mouse house own ABC as most already know, so it was only a matter of time until we see the beloved characters on the small screen once again.

ABC’s “The Muppet Show” comes to television nationwide next fall. No exact date or schedule has been given at this time. Well keep you posted as more comes in on this story . .
