Director Matt Reeves Returns To The Batman!

header-transparent_space

Well, here we are again folks it seems. In more crazy Batman news this month, it’s being reported that Mr. Matt Reeves- who at one point was the director that Warner Bros. Studio was looking at most prominently too take over after Ben Affleck stepped down from the project, has now returned and officially signed on after stepping away from the project over a week ago himself. So hopefully you got all that, cause it was exhausting to write . .

Even though this head spin of a story makes many people quite dizzy, this is actually somewhat common place in crazy ole Hollywood. Directors and teams leaves projects, others come in only too have there script or direction not work and then leave themselves.

This is certainly nothing new at all to Warner Studio’s, as they have endured many a false start or a falling out, when it came to their Batman and Superman franchises over the years, including very recently. Now adding to those Flash, Wonder Woman and Aqua-Man all having a lot of trouble in there respective productions and multiple directors . . .

Could The Batman Be In Trouble?

header

Well it’s certainly been quite a month for Batman fans. First we got the news that Ben Affleck was still not happy with the script and the film had been pushed back from it’s original release date of 2018. Then we got the news that Affleck has officially stepped down from the directors chair, which in turn sparked more controversy and speculation about the state of the DC Film Division at present . .

In the wake of all that, it was then revealed that 39 year old Matt Reeves ( Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes ) is on the shortlist as the next director on the project. Although nothing has been set in stone just as yet and Warner’s is still looking to other bigger names as well.

Now according to the latest rumor mill coming from our friend ~( ComicBookCast2 )~ Ben Affleck actually wants out altogether on the Batman project and the DCU. Now this report claims it comes from three distinct insider sources on the film, but as always should be taken with a large grain of salt.

Where this latest rumor does gain some traction, is that for months now we’ve been hearing of a downward spiral where Affleck hasn’t been very happy with what the studio wants of him and has seemed visibly irritated when talking about the project, especially after his latest Warner’s film bombed at theaters. So only time will tell if this rumor holds any truth for the on & off production . . .

Did Hugh Jackman Tease Character’s Classic Yellow Suit in the Upcoming Film?

transparent_space
Well it seems that big-time actor Hugh Jackman took to twitter recently to shake things up & give fans a little something to talk about in the weeks ahead until his final film outing as everyone’s favorite cigar chomping, claw wielding mutant in Logan, due out this March . .

Wolverine first appeared in Bryan Singer’s X-Men back in 2000, to which the team mostly suited up in black leather get-ups. That has largely been the case in subsequent movies too follow. But in a deleted scene from “The Wolverine” the yellow costume was seen in a box that was gifted to Logan as he departed Japan. So could Logan finally be where the suit shows up?

In the second trailer for Logan, we saw the young mutant X-23, played by Dafne Keen, holding an X-Men comic book. Outside of that being self-referential, it did provide some context that would make the yellow costume showing up in the movie less jarring and seemingly out of place. Since Logan is set in a not-too-distant future where most mutants have disappeared and the landscape is very bleak, a bright yellow superhero costume might not be appropriate.

So finally, here’s what the actor posted on his official Twitter page, featuring something that all X-Men fans can get behind. Given the very subtle way some things are teased these days, it seems possible that this could be a sign that the suit may make an appearance in Logan. If it really is the last time we see his version of Wolverine onscreen, that would be a fun thing to see and would serve as a great bit of fan service . . .

Upcoming X-Men Sequel To Focus On Quicksilver And Magneto!

transparent_space

Well it certainly seems that Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse is going to be jam-packed with Mutants old and new, but one particular fan favorite is going to get some special attention. Evan Peters, who plays Quicksilver in last year’s sequel, revealed some of the story will focus on the relationship between the super-speedster and his biological dad, which was only ever hinted at that Magneto is indeed Quicksilver’s father. When the two meet up again in next summer’s blockbuster sequel, their path’s will finally connect. Speaking with Details magazine, Peters had this to say about his part in the next upcoming film . .

“The story is that my character is searching for his father and really wants to find him. It starts from there and then he jumps on the X-Men train and gets sucked up in this whole, crazy Apocalypse madness: He joins in and tries to stop him from destroying the world basically.”

The mutant-speedster character, which is shared by both 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios cinematically, first made his debut in X-Men: Days of Future Past. When he learned of Magneto’s powers, he mentions that his mother “used to know” a man who could manipulate metal. It has been confirmed that in this corner of the Marvel Universe owned by Fox Studios, that Magneto is still Quicksilver’s father, despite Marvel Comic’s recent changing of the characters entire origins . . .

Wolverine To Appear In Upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse After All?

transparent_space

Recently during a 20th Century Fox presentation at 2015 Comic Con panel, X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer engaged in a somewhat cryptic conversation with actor Hugh Jackman, who still has not been confirmed for this latest installment. While the conversation certainly didn’t confirm a Wolverine cameo yet, it did hint that one may be possible. Journal de Montreal is now reporting that the director is assembling his cast in Montreal early next year for reshoots, and that Hugh Jackman may be on hand . .

It isn’t known what the production may have planned for Jackman’s ultimate appearance in the film, which events are set in the year 1983, ten years after the events of last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. The rehoots are scheduled to take place in early 2016 in two separate Montreal studios for “a few weeks,” according to this report.

What’s interesting is Josh Helman has been confirmed to return as Col. Stryker in X-Men: Apocalypse. It’s possible this movie could show the origins of William Stryker getting Wolverine to participate in the Weapon X program which gave him his adamantium claws, but that hasn’t been confirmed. Regardless of what Hugh Jackman will be filming, it seems he will be back for his ninth X-Men movie somehow . . .

HEADER - Trasnsparentspace bar

It’s now being reported that star Tom Cruise is set to ramp-up yet another of his successful franchise vehicles from Paramount Pictures in the form of the follow-up to 2012’s action / thriller “Jack Reacher”. No title has been officially released as of yet, but the upcoming film is said to be on the fast track by the studio for an October release next fall . .

Jack Reacher 2 reteams the mega-star with Oscar-winner Edward Zwick, who last directed Cruise in the critically acclaimed, “The Last Samurai” over a decade ago. Also joining the cast is Agent Maria Hill herself, Cobie Smulders, in what has been touted as a “more grounded” outing for the eponymous ex-military investigator.

The upcoming sequel is reported to be based on “Never Go Back” – the 18th Jack Reacher novel written by Lee Child. Jack Reacher 2 finds the investigator caught up in a mystery involving a commanding officer at a Virginia army base ( Smulders ), and a teenager named Samantha, who might, in fact, be Jack Reacher’s daughter. The first Jack Reacher was a mystery / action / thriller involving a convoluted conspiracy, but the sequel is said to be more comparatively straight-forward, with its focus more on Reacher’s relationships with Susan and Samantha.

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Entertainment’s untitled Jack Reacher Sequel is officially set to arrive in theaters on October 21, 2016 . .
